Holy Moly, has it really been two whole weeks since our last appearance in this space? Did you grow concerned? Are you even still checking in with us at all or have you simply given up on us all together? I'd hardly blame you if you did.
Well if you are here and you were feeling worried, no need, everything is just fine... all I can say is that we are in the thick of it here and time is blurring into itself, not in a bad way, just in a summertime way. Our days are looking remarkably similar and not particularly 'blog-worthy' with lazy mornings and impromptu pancake breakfasts, with windows thrown open in an effort to catch cool breezes and to hear the screechy song of cicadas in the woods. Our mornings invariably melt into sweltering afternoons forcing us to surrender to the A/C once more, and thankful for it really, because we would positively wilt without it here in the deep south. There has been plenty of book reading in the hammock and many bug hunts in the yard, there has been some extraordinary playing among these brothers, who entertain one another endlessly, with such little squabbling.... Lucky does not even begin to describe how it feels to witness our boys and their true friendship in action.
There has been lots of Popsicle and ice cream consumption, we are really loving Baskin Robbins pre-packed quarts lately, which thankfully seem to boast a constant two-for sale, hurray for mint-chocolate chip and chocolate in the same bowl! There have been haircuts on the patio, playing in the hose, and trying to dodge the mosquito's that have arrived in full force as they always do by early July, which drives this mama nuts by the way, because the back yard is our favorite play space, but it feels positively wrong to spray them down with chemicals or just as offensive, grease them up with 'natural' products that leave my babies slippery and smelling like citronella candles every time they want to walk out the back door to play in the sand box...blech!
This has turned into the season where I have taught my biggest boy the joys of those classic card games 'war' and 'solitare' which is giving me the feeling that I need to invest in that other classic "Uno". If only my brain would work properly when I find myself strolling the aisles of Target, which surprisingly is not very often these days.
While we haven't been productive here in our own space, I have been eagerly devouring the pages of my own favorites in blog-land, which on the whole is quieter than usual, with a few exceptions, making me feel less guilty and more like we're just another family enjoying our summer together. I did see something this morning that is so stinkin' adorable it's got me itchin for another antiques outing, a little girl to sew for and a lazy afternoon to waste in front of the old machine...check it out Here....that Anna Maria, she's such a sewing goddess, she even did up a little tutorial for those of us who lack the savvy to simply figure that sort of stuff out on our own...me. So I'm not making any promises about how long it will be until our next post, but know that we are thinking about you and hoping you are all enjoying your summer-time as much as we are!
Happy July 4th!!
