It has been busy here the last two weeks. Nothing extraordinary, it just feels like we have been doing this strange dance where we are winding down with summer and gearing up for fall all at the same time.
We have been exploring outside a whole lot, sort of savoring these last few true days of summer. There has been LOTS of exciting bug activity, and if the stars align just right I might even have a few extra seconds to share some of that with you in the next few days. ***fingers crossed***
In the midst of this, my mind has been embracing fall, my most favorite of seasons.
There has been closet inventory going on, lots of come here, hold still for just a second while I try these pants on you and see if they still fit, which brings on the laugh out louds, because of course, nothing still fits, ANYONE.
Am I the only one who feels like just when you finally get the clothes situation settled and the piles of out-growns get boxed up and put away, well hello there, here comes the change of season, and it's time to get down those boxes and start the sorting all over again?
I realized this morning that this between seasons has hit our kitchen
as well.So I pulled a bit of evidence outside for a quick photo-session to prove my
point. Tapping into my inner food stylist for a moment...Does anyone else
think photographing for bon appetit would be a blast??
Here we have the most succulent watermelon, a gift from my friend Karen's garden. One of late summer's yummiest blessings.
And these lovely specimens of summer's deliciousness, juicy, local peaches. YUMMMM!
But look, what's this?
Could it be?
Why yes, it is...
Behold....Apples.
Freshly harvested from the mountains. That's right, local apples and that can only mean one thing friends.
Fall is fast approaching.
To make things more exciting, our weather has been unseasonably cool the last several days. The morning air has been chilly with the faintest sweet smell of crisp leaves. Samuel keeps appearing before me saying things like...It smells like a pumpkin patch day.
Yes sir, that's my boy.
