It was another warm winter day that we ventured out with friends and walked in a new direction in search of evidence of the beavers who have changed the flow and depth of the waterway we know so well.
It wasn't long before we happened upon their lodge, which was quite an impressive sight to say the least.
Not too much further down the trail we came upon the dam...truly amazing work on such a grand scale for such small creatures.
It dawned on me this day just how big the babies really are. They walked independently for the whole hike through the woods, stopping along the way to stir the shoreline with sticks and peer into holes and fallen logs. They have really found their comfort zone in the woods, exploring and taking in all the wonder to be found.
It's bittersweet, this growing up of the little people in our home.
